It features and almost unheard of device for an upright piano. This Weber has a sostenuto mechanism!
Any notes played and held down while depressing the middle pedal are sustained after their keys are released. This allows the pianist to play certain notes, sustain only those notes with the pedal (which acts as an extra hand) and then use both hands to play other non-sustained notes. It is a very rare mechanism in upright pianos.
